Q&A with Manikandan A: Salesforce Trainee

Hello! We’re glad to have you here at CUBE84! How did you hear about us?

Hi! I graduated from Anna University, Chennai in 2019 and ever since my graduation, I’d been actively looking for career opportunities. When I scanned the market, so to speak, I looked at Salesforce as having immense potential, both for personal career growth, as well as in terms of it being applicable on a large scale. For this reason, I was interested in Salesforce and began looking at companies that offered Salesforce training. When the COVID pandemic hit, I was thrown for a loop and couldn’t really find any opportunities that excited me...so when I found CUBE84 on LinkedIn, I decided to give it a shot.

What made you say yes to CUBE84?

Like I said, I was looking for opportunities during the pandemic. This was really challenging, as most offers I got were either very limited in scope, or simply didn’t offer enough to get me excited. When I applied to CUBE84, I learnt that I would go through an in-depth training program on not just Salesforce, but also things like communication, professionalism, collaboration and much more. This gave me some degree of long-term security, as well as a clear path of development and growth, both on a personal level, as well as a professional one. So that’s primarily why I decided to take up this opportunity at CUBE84.

That’s wonderful! What have your initial impressions been like so far?

I’ve only been here for a couple of months and I can’t shake the feeling that there isn’t a traditional hierarchy here. Everyone is very respectful, friendly and supportive. As a trainee, even the senior-most members of the team have been very approachable. They’ve also given me a lot of freedom in how I want to progress. I’m not from a metropolitan background and so, communication, particularly with client-facing elements of our business, has always been something I wanted to work on. I expressed that in my interview and soon after I came here, I was put into groups that worked on pitching and presenting. I’m finding the right channels and platforms to grow in many different ways, so I’m excited and looking forward to what’s in store for me!

Is it safe to say that you’ve found the place you’ve been looking for in CUBE84?

Yes, I think so. First and foremost, it’s a leading Salesforce company. Given the growth of Salesforce and data science in business today, I think the sky’s the limit for the company as a whole, and I fully intend on contributing to our development. I’ve found the right training programme for me - It’s improved my existing Salesforce foundation and introduced me to everything I need to know to take the next step in my career. I also feel very comfortable with the leadership and the atmosphere here at the company...so yes, I can absolutely see myself climbing the ladder at CUBE84.

That’s great to hear! So, what does a day at CUBE84 in the shoes of Manikandan look like?

Like I said before, I’m currently going through my training period, which serves as a sort of preparation for stepping into the role of a full-time Salesforce developer. As a result, I come into the office and typically work under one of our teams. I’m assigned tasks that either help with a specific project, or work as prototypes for future projects. Then, I spend some time reviewing my work with more experienced members of the team. I also participate in things like toastmaster sessions and pitching exercises as well. Other than that, I really enjoy coming in to work simply because of the atmosphere. I’ve built a lot of relationships that I value in my short time here, and spend a significant portion of my day checking out what everyone else is up to! Team lunches, group activities and outings have all helped me ease into my role at CUBE84.

” Be on the lookout for new technologies. Understand the market, do your research and be prepared to adapt and learn. Tech is a dynamic, ever-changing industry, so I’d recommend that every candidate look at not just Salesforce, but the technology sector in general to be up to date on what’s new, and actively pursue opportunities and platforms by which they can get ahead of the curve. “

We’re very excited to know that you’re enjoying your time here! Is there anything you’d like to say to future candidates?

Yes! When I first heard about Salesforce, it was somewhat new. Today, it’s become essential to many businesses' marketing and strategic operations. Initially, I foresaw the impact that Salesforce could have and so, positioned myself to take advantage of that. That would be my central piece of advice to candidates looking to get into tech - be on the lookout for new technologies. Understand the market, do your research and be prepared to adapt and learn. Tech is a dynamic, ever-changing industry, so I’d recommend that every candidate look at not just Salesforce, but the technology sector in general, to be up to date on what’s new, and actively pursue opportunities and platforms by which they can get ahead of the curve.
